She is actually my friend too. Anyway, for some reason I haven’t read it yet. As the rain poured down this afternoon, I looked over on the side table and saw the book. It seemed like a good time to start reading, it’s a pretty slight little book and I was hooked by the third page. This is an incredibly gripping story (fiction) based on Denmark during the Holocaust and their humanity toward the Jewish Danes. I don’t know about you, but I can’t read stories with even a hint of evil toward children or the weak. Amazingly, this book told the story of life in Denmark, during this incredibly indecent period but didn’t lead me to conjure up evil images in my mind. I tried to read some to the kids while we ate Pizza, but they just kept saying, “Why don’t you read us Junie B?” My favorite part of the book is during the tensest moments of the escape, the leader reads the Bible to soothe the group (both Christians & Jews). He reads Psalm 147: Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant,[a] and a song of praise is fitting. 2 The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel. 3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. 4 He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names. As our country and really the whole world see the evil abounding, we cannot forget who we are and mostly who God is. He has not forgotten us. Now would be the time to Praise Him. *I hope you will read Number the Stars and be encouraged. If you are a teacher, there are some pretty fantastic teaching guides for this book. Here are a few I found. We just have the sliding door to install, artwork to make/hang and to hang the curtains. So, as a recap, this is where we started. In progress We chose the gray color option in the wood look tile and it pairs nicely with the tan rug and other elements. (the lighting was not installed yet, so sorry for the drab light effects). So, now I need to create the artwork for the short wall, and then upload final pics. This is my inspiration for her artwork, but in soothing, beachy colors. *artwork by LuLu DK Steph Author stephstewart@att.netPosted on July 8, 2016July 8, 2016Categories DesignTags artwork, beachy, Candace's Den, designing for friends, Interior design, LuLu DK, progress, silentstubbornsLeave a comment on Candace’s New Den – progress Newest Favorite things Just for fun, I thought I’d share some of my newest great finds. These Shoes. I know at first glance you may think they remind you of something a grandma would wear ( that’s what my Mom said anyway) but they are really cute on, and the perfect height and most importantly I will actually wear them because they are COMFORTABLE! JBU Chloe sandal. I lucked out and got mine on sale at Macy’s. I think you can get them in gray and tan too. A few weeks ago I had this wonderful experience of shopping, alone at a Sephora. Too bad it wasn’t for me. I had to pick up a Fathers Day present for Bill and they gave me a sample of this amazing face cream. It smells minerally and wonderful, plus it keeps my kind of dry skin hydrated. I think I’ve got Holly hooked on it too. When Holly and I went to the Mississippi Heritage Trust Awards a few weeks ago she wore this cute dress. She bought this Emma Rose dress online and raved about how great it fit and how easy it was to wear. Because we are twins, I had to buy one for myself too, but in another color. Mine is Bruce Trojan Blue for Daddy’s football team. (*I think they run small, so check the sizing) We have a new snow cone stand in town and they hide ice cream in their icy wonderfullness. I think they call it a stuffed snow cone. If you are in town, you must try Frost Bites on Hwy 9. I’ve gotten vanilla ice cream in a coconut snow cone and also chocolate ice cream in a banana snow cone. Both were totally wonderful. Do you have some favorite things to share? Please tell me. You know what I mean, she dreamed of the spaces, but couldn’t find an already created plan that was compatible with those images. She and her husband are really nice and I’ve enjoyed getting to know them better through this process. She also happens to take care of us when we are sick…and pull blue crayons out of my kids ears. This is not the final plan, but I wanted you to see how cute this family farmhouse is going to be. Do remember the den renovation that I designed for my friend? Well, the sliding door is about to be hung, so final pics are coming soon. Also, I just need to say Happy 4th of July! Do you think you can diagram God Almighty? God is far higher than you can imagine, far deeper than you can comprehend, Stretching farther than earth’s horizons, far wider than the endless ocean.” When I get to a place where I see life only thru my eyes, it always helps to understand who God really is and who I really am. He is the Almighty God and I am his daughter (because I have committed my life to Christ). My place/standing is defined by who He is. I’m loving this song. *I have friends who are awaiting cancer scan results today. Please pray for M&JD. This lake has a beach and slides and even some 70’s style accommodations. I’m gonna give you some insight into my vacation planning abilities and previous vacation history. I hate planning vacations. I crazy love spontaneous road trips, where we have no idea where we are going, where we are going to sleep at night and where we leave room for chance encounters with amazing new friends. It makes me feel young and carefree. It makes my husband feel like I’m being careless. He sees no fun in spontaneous road trips. So, now that we have kids, and it’s taken me 8 years to get here, I try to plan our vacations. The only way I can muscle through is to imagine (pretend) that the Lake is really the resort from Dirty Dancing, and I’m Baby and Bill is Patrick Swayze and we are going to dance the night away (when the kids go to bed). Oops – did I reveal too much? This is where my mind goes. To say it’s a bit unrealistic is just down right laughable. We have a good time, especially the kids, but it’s not real romantic. If you happen to see us at the lake, just know that I’m waiting for this song to queue up any minute. Life’s funny, especially if your already laughing. Steph *Bill just confirmed that he hated Dirty Dancing. It took some time, but I hope it will be good. You really shouldn’t see much difference, but I will on this side of cyperspace. I created a new header/identity…pretty, right? So – if you see these images, it’s ME! Sure, there’s still lots to do and problems to solve but I’ve had a sweet talk with my love and prayer with God, and my heart is thankful. All my hopes, to- dos and desires can wait till tomorrow.
